Three More Purchases for the BT Pinhook Venture

The Fasig-Tipton Sales in New York got off to a slow start on day one with 63 yearlings selling for an average of $236,349 and a median of $185,000. BT sat idle with no purchases the first night. The second night seemed like a different sale with 55 yearlings selling for an average of $334,727 and a median of $250,000. Overall, the gross declined by 7.8% while the average fell 28.3% and 35.1% respectively. On the second night, BT was able to secure a son of Distorted Humor out of the Group 3 winning Johannesburg mare African Skies for $180,000. After the ticket was signed, Pete Bradley said, “he has a killer walk and if that translates into how he breezes as a two-year-old, we will have gotten a great buy.”

The New York Bred Sale had a similar vibe with the first night getting off to a slow start and the second night showing major upswings. The average rose overall by 15.3% and the median by 42.8%. Bradley Thoroughbreds Pinhook Venture was able to buy two more colts. The first purchase was a New York bred colt by Old Fashioned out of Madison Dollie for $45,000. BT now has a colt and a filly by Old Fashioned and it will be interesting to see how this young sire’s first crop does.

The last horse purchased by the Pinhook Venture was Hip #340, a colt by Congrats out of Sorbie Duchess for $30,000. Congrat’s two-year-olds average selling price is $121,583 with a median of $122,500. This is a nice colt we were happy to grab for $30,000.

The Venture now owns 7 yearlings. The goal this year will be to purchase between 22 to 25 yearlings and resell all of them at the two-year-old sales next year. The September Sale is right around the corner. Stay tuned to see what we buy next!
