
Q: What is your favorite memory outside of racing you had while growing up in Mechanicville?
A: Throwing pool parties at my house. We had a nice pool in my backyard and it was a great place to hangout with all of my friends
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: The Shawshank Redemption
Q: Favorite sports team?
A: San Francisco 49ers
Q: What are your hobbies outside of racing?
A: Fishing with my brother.
Q: How old were you when you decided you wanted to train horses?
A: I was 12 years old. I fell in love with racing while living in Saratoga and caught the bug. It took me a few years to figure out how to work my way in to the game but I knew I wanted to train at that point.
Q: You were one of Bobby Frankel’s assistant trainers, What is the most vital thing you learned from him that you use in training horses today?
A: Putting the horse first. He always told me if you just put the horse first with every decision you make then everything else will fall in to place.
Q: Favorite moment as a trainer?
A: 2008 Breeders Cup win with Maram. It was my first full year of training and Bobby Frankel was there at Santa Anita to see it.
Q: What is your main goal in 2015?
A: To just build on the previous year. Every year we have been in business we have earned more purse money than the year before, this is a hard trend to maintain. How high can you go? But that is our goal every year. We will try to build on 2014, it is not going to be easy, 2014 was an outstanding year for our staff, horses, and clients but we have to aim higher.
Q: For new owners getting involved in racing what is one piece of advice you would give them?
A: Surround yourself with successful people in the industry.
Q: Besides the Kentucky Derby, what is the race you most want to win?
A: The Travers Stakes at Saratoga.
