The 6-year-old mare Sahpresa (Sahm) etched her name into the record books this afternoon with a third straight victory in the G1 Sun Chariot S. at Newmarket. Teruya Yoshida’s always-tough mare had been in fine form all season, winning the G3 Prix du Palais-Royal at Longchamp in June before running the great Goldikova (Ire) to a neck in the G1 Prix Rothschild S. at Deauville in July. She was beaten only a length when third to Immortal Verse (Ire) and Goldikova in the G1 Prix Jacques le Marois in her latest, and was the favorite to record the hat trick in the Sun Chariot. She didn’t’ disappoint, rallying from a mid-pack position to beat a deep field by a length for trainer Rod Collet. Bradley Thoroughbred brokered the sale of the broodmare SORPRESA (Pleasant Tap), Sahpresa’s dam, in May of 2009 just months before her first G1 Sun Chariot.
