Premier Steps (IRE) returned to the winners circle on Sunday, March 9th after a long hiatus. A Stakes winner at Gulfstream Park and (G3) placed in Europe there was no question this filly is full of talent just if she would be able to put it all back together again.
She broke much sharper on Sunday than in her previous start and was put in the perfect position by Hall of Fame rider Gary Stevens. She laid fourth down the backstretch biding her time. Gary seemed to realize at the 3/8ths pole that the pace was slowing from a quick half mile of :46.10 to a slower six furlongs time of 1:10.00 and began picking off rivals one by one. When they turned for home she was sitting second with only OSCAR PARTY in front of her. Premier Steps (IRE) cruised by her midstretch and won by a length. It was the ideal trip and a great ride by Gary Stevens. She earned a 92 Beyer in the win.
