Pleuven (FR) Returns to the Races a Winner

Pleuven figures to be returning to graded stakes competition after rallying to a one-length optional-claiming win over Gulfstream Park turf on Saturday. The outing was the first for Pleuven since his fourth-place finish here nearly 11 months earlier in the Grade 3 Palm Beach.

Pleuven, 4, began his career in his native France before joining trainer Chad Brown’s stable near the end of his 2-year-old campaign. He finished third in the Grade 3 Dania Beach in December 2013 in his U.S. debut.

“He had a lot of lingering issues, particularly his feet, and this is the first time I’ve really seen him completely sound everywhere,” Brown said of Pleuven, who had also been gelded since his previous start. “I always thought he had ability, and he seems to be putting it together now. I was curious if he would run to his training coming off the layoff. This victory gives us a lot of options, and a chance to finally get him in those type of stakes races we’d always hoped he’d run in when he first came over here.” -DRF to read more go to www.drf.com
