Rather Beautiful Wins at Gulfstream Park

RATHER BEAUTIFUL made her second lifetime start on Sunday, January 11th going 1 1/16th over the Gulfstream Park main track. Originally scheduled for the turf the rain forced the field on to the slop for the Maiden Special Weight event.

RATHER BEAUTIFUL broke sharply but bumped the side of the gate on her way out knocking Javier Castellano off balance. She showed good early speed settling fourth then moving into third down the backstretch. In her run down the backstretch she split horses to get better postion. As the field turned for home she put pressure on J. QUIRK, circling up on her outside. She passed that filly and held off a late run by LUCKNOW to win by 1/2 a length.

This was RATHER BEAUTIFUL’s first start over a dirt surface. In her debut on November 23rd RATHER BEAUTIFUL finished fourth over a yielding Aqueduct turf course.
