QUINTA VERDE (IRE) was a private purchase by Bradley Thoroughbreds in January of this year. She was third in three lifetime efforts before coming stateside. She was (G3) placed beaten a short neck at the Curragh in June of 2014 and was Listed Stakes placed behind TOGETHER FOREVER at the Curragh in October of 2014.
She was sent off as the heavy favorite in the Maiden Special Weight at Keeneland on April 9th going 1 1/16th on the turf. She broke slowly and settled towards the back of the pack in 10th down the backstretch. Javier Castellano moved her in to striking position in the second turn, weaving through traffic. He tipped her five wide and asked her for run as the field turned for home and she responded willingly. As the DRF chart reads, “she engulfed the leaders.” She won going away by 2 1/4 lengths in the end.
The filly is pointing for the (G3) Edgewood at Churchill Downs next.
