Premier Steps Ready for Sweetest Chant

For the second year in a row a Bradley Thoroughbreds Racing Venture filly will contest the $100,000 Sweetest Chant Stakes at Gulfstream Park. Last year Dayatthespa kicked off her dominant 3YO filly turf campaign winning this race by 1 3/4 lengths. This year Premier Steps (IRE) will try to do the same thing. After finishing 2nd in a Group 3 at Deauville behind highly regarded Purr Along (GB) Bradley Thoroughbreds privately acquired Premier Steps for a BT Racing Venture. After importing her to the United States and turning her over to trainer Chad Brown it was clear she was something special. Chad pointed her for the (G3) Miesque at Hollywood Park to make her U.S debut.

As reported in the Daily Racing Form, “She really got squeezed at the start, and it totally took her out of position,” said trainer Chad Brown. “She trains like a horse who is a lot more tactical than that. She made a little run down the lane, but I’m just putting a line through the race. Obviously we were very disappointed. I would never ship a horse that far away for her U.S. debut if I didn’t really think highly of her.”

Premier Steps finished 6th in the (G3) Miesque closing fast at the end after a troubled beginning. With a little racing luck and the addition of Javier Castellano BT and Partners are hoping for a good day on Sunday. She is listed as the 5-2 morning line favorite. Good luck to the Co-Owners!
