The BT 2012-2013 Pinhook Venture purchased 19 yearlings throughout the second half of 2012. All will be sold at the upcoming Two-Year-Old in training sales through Eddie Woods consignment. The first sale to kick off the year will be at Barretts in California. The Barretts and OBS March horses have already begun a work schedule. Each of the 19 two-year-olds are shown below categorized by the sales they have been nominated to with a link to their pedigree. Some of these photos were taken with an iPhone so the quality isn’t the best however they will give you an idea of how they are developing.
Barretts Sale- (March 4th)
The Pinhook Venture will send two two-year-olds out to the Barretts Sale in California.
2011 c. Any Given Saturday out of Rahy Connection- This colt’s sire has had two good stakes horses in California this fall. He seems precocious and an early sale should fit him physically. Pedigree
2011 f. by Harlan’s Holiday out of Sophie’s Trophy- Harlan’s Holiday has had Into Mischief, Mendip, and Shanghai Bobby win graded stakes in Southern California. Combine this with the fact that the dam raced on the West Coast and it makes sense to send her to Barretts. Pedigree
OBS March Sale – (March 12th-13th)
The Venture will nominate five horses to this sale. This sale probably attracts the largest number of buyers.
2011 f. by Old Fashioned out of Baby Betty-This is a nice scopy filly. She looks the part on and off the racetrack. Pedigree
2011 r. by English Channel out of California Sunset-This is a big strong colt with all kinds of presence. He eats up the ground when he gallops. Pedigree
2011 c. by Tapit out of Muir Station- He has the potential to be a standout in any sale. He is by the right sire and he is developing very nicely. Pedigree
2011 c. by Proud Citizen out of Sleep Away Camp-This is another big handsome colt and he will be difficult not to notice. Pedigree
Fasig-Tipton Florida Sale (March 25th)
Three Venture horses will be nominated to this sale.
2011 f. by Harlan’s Holiday out of AJ’s Gal. – Not only is Harlan’s Holiday a hot horse on the West Coast but he has had excellent runners in New York and on the Florida circuit also. This filly’s 3/4 sister, MY SPECIAL J’s is a group 2 winner in Ireland which is a very nice update on her catalogue page since purchasing her at OBS August. Pedigree
2011 c. by Tiznow out of Cool Storm- He is another one of our potential stars. This is the type of horse that if he performs to his looks will draw a lot of attention from the top buyers.Pedigree
Princess Of The Nile (2011 f. by Pioneerof The Nile out of Princess Two)-This is an elegant and athletic filly. She is very fluid on the track and will definitely be one to watch. Pedigree
Keeneland April Sale (April 8th)
We have had good success at this sale and will nominate four horses.
Consecrate (2011 f. by Pulpit out of Curious Conundrum)- She is potentially one of our best fillies and could have real star appeal in this sale. Pedigree
2011 c. by Arch out of Falling Springs – This colt is one of our headliners and Eddie Woods contends he is one of the best movers in our group. He has class and quality; he should be a very good fit for Keeneland. Pedigree
2011 c. by Distorted Humor out of African Skies – There is European bent in his pedigree with his dam being a group 3 winner in England. You need star quality at this sale and this colt appears to have it. Pedigree
2011 c. by More Than Ready out of Frontier Beauty – He has more size and scope than a lot of More Than Ready’s. He has a very fluid way of going on the track.Pedigree
OBS April Sale (April 22nd-April-25th)
This sale had exceptional returns last year and the largest increase in average of all the two-year-old sales in 2012. The Venture will nominate six horses to this sale.
2011 f. by Awesome Again out of Alpha Heat – She is tough and looks quick. She has the potential to put up a quick breeze time. Pedigree
2011 c. by Old Fashioned out of Madison Dollie- He is a New York bred and there is always a strong contingent of New York owners and trainers at this sale. A very solid colt. Pedigree
2011 r. by Master Command out of Mother – This is a very athletic horse and fits the profile of the type of horse that can stand out in this sale. Pedigree
2011 c. Pioneerof The Nile out of Shopping Again – This colt looks very precocious and speed sells no matter where you put it. Pedigree
2011 c. by Congrats out of Sorbie Duchess – This is another New York bred which is a plus. He has really matured since buying him in Saratoga in August. Pedigree
2011 c. by Arch out of Webee– He has a tremendous stride when he is on the track. Arch is one of the hottest sires in the country right now and this colt should stand out anywhere. Pedigree.
