Sweet Acclaim (Ire) Takes CD Allowance

Sweet Acclaim (Ire), third in the 2013 G3 Oh So Sharp S. at
Newmarket and in the 2014 GIII Appalachian S. at Keeneland,
was fifth in the 2014 Tenski S. at Saratoga in her final start for
trainer Chad Brown. Benched for 19 months, she was
transferred to Brad Cox and returned in a grassy allowance at
the Fair Grounds Mar. 26, where she won by an impressive
4 1/2 lengths. Hammered down to 4-5 favoritism here, the bay
broke well, but was in tight quarters and Florent Geroux made
the wise decision to take back and avoid trouble. Hugging the
fence, she bided her time in second to last through opening
splits of :24.50 and :48.72. Swung out three wide at the top of
the lane, Sweet Acclaim unleashed a powerful rally to swiftly
inhale the leaders and cruise home a decisive 3 3/4-length
winner over 9-1 shot Lemon Song (Lemon Drop Kid). The winner
is likely to make her next start in this venue’s GIII Mint Julep S.
June 11, according to a tweet from part owner Pete Bradley.
Hailing from the extended family of American and European
champion Goldikova (Ire) (Anabaa), Sweet Acclaim has a 2-yearold
half-brother by Lilbourne Lad (Ire) and a yearling full-brother.
