LEXINGTON, Ky. – A capacity field of 14 2-year-old turf fillies, plus two also-eligibles, has been entered in the Grade 2, $200,000 Jessamine Stakes, to be run here Wednesday as the 10th and last Win and You’re In of the fall meet toward the Nov. 5-6 Breeders’ Cup.
Turnerloose (post 3, Florent Geroux), a sharp winner of the Kentucky Downs Juvenile Fillies last month, figures among the favorites for the 1 1/16-mile Jessamine for trainer Brad Cox, who last year swept the Jessamine and the BC Juvenile Fillies Turf with the recently retired Aunt Pearl.
Among Turnerloose’s challengers is Diamond Wow, who was scratched Friday from the Alcibiades by trainer Patrick Biancone after being assigned post 11 for the 1 1/16-mile dirt race. She was assigned post 14 for the Jessamine.
The Jessamine is the first of three stakes here next week. The Grade 3 Franklin County for filly-mare turf sprinters will be run Friday, followed Saturday by the sixth and final Grade 1 race of the meet, the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup for 3-year-old turf fillies.
The QE II invitation list stood at 11 as of Friday, led by the formidable Chad Brown pair of Shantisara and Technical Analysis.
