BTB Venture graduate BACKDOOR KENNY became the first black-type horse for his freshman sire, the Unbridled’s Song stallion Half Ours, this evening at Prairie Meadows. A driving five-length debut winner sprinting 4 1/2 furlongs in an Arlington Park maiden special weight May 7 (96 BRIS figure), the chestnut colt shipped in for the $75,000 Prairie Gold Juvenile S. over 5 1/2 panels and was given a 6-1 chance. Breaking from post eight, he was hung five or six wide the entire way around the turn, but kept on well in the lane to secure show honors despite the ground loss. Bradley Thoroughbreds purchased BACKDOOR KENNY for $25,000 at the FTKJUL sale and resold him to James DiVito for $85,000 at OBSMAR. The colt is trained by DiVito and is owned by Doubledown Stables Inc. Congrats to his connections! (Backdoor Kenny Chart 7-16-11)
