ORIENTATIOUS improves her record

The 3-year-old filly ORIENTATIOUS improved her record to two wins in three starts this afternoon at Del Mar, her 1 3/4-length winning margin belying the style of the victory. A close-up second as the favorite on debut at Santa Anita in April, she lived up to 1-2 favoritism at Hollywood Park last time, romping by 4 1/4 lengths in special weight company, and was once again the chalk in a six-furlong optional claiming event. Showing a new dimension from her previous two starts, ORIENTATIOUS relaxed well off the early leader and was still seven lengths back at the quarter pole. She began to gobble up ground turning intothe stretch with a very wide move and was in full flight in deep stretch as she pulled away from the pack. Her exertions earned her a 96 BRIS. BTB Ventures purchased ORIENTATIOUS for $16,000 as a KEESEP yearlingand resold her to Solis Bloodstock for $90,000 at OBSMAR. She’s owned by Tom Lenner, Skyline Stables, et al and is trained by Mike Puype.(Orientatious Chart 7-23-11)
