LATENT HEAT – First stakes winner of his young career

Freshman sire LATENT HEAT rang up the first stakes winner of his young career when the 2-year-old filly Softly Lit upset the Tippet S. at Colonial Downs today. The filly, a 4 1/2-length winner at Delaware in her previous start, was trying out the turf for the first time for owner PTK LLC and trainer Dane Kobiskie, and handled the surface switch with aplomb. She rated a few lengths off a hot early pace, swept to the front with an inside move in upper stretch and dug in gamely at the end to win by a head. LATENT HEAT is currently the sixth-ranked freshman sire in the nation by progeny earnings and co-second-ranked by winners, with four. Bradley Thoroughbreds brokered the deal for LATENT HEAT to stand at Peter O’Callaghan’s Woods Edge Farm.
