The 2-year-old filly LADY CITRON (Langfuhr), bought by BT on behalf of a client for just $12,500 as a KEEJAN short yearling, proved she was well worth that modest price tag with a sharp maiden victory at Keeneland this afternoon. A daughter of the Lemon Drop Kid mare Lemon Flower, the bay ran on strongly to be second as the favorite sprinting seven furlongs on debut at Arlington Sept. 24, and was stretching to two turns for the first time in her young career. She bided her time in second while several lengths off the leader, geared up her challenge on the far turn and, despite being bumped in upper stretch by a rallying rival, showed her resolve by putting away that foe and winning by a half-length. LADY CITRON was winning for trainer Michael Stidham and owner Richard W. Wolfe. (Lady Citron chart 10-22-11)
