For the second year in a row, Bradley Thoroughbreds and partners will send a filly to the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. Last year at this time Dayatthespa was preparing for a run in this prestigious race. Although she finished 9th beaten 5 3/4 lengths she has developed into a super star Grade I winning 3 year old. Very exciting to have a contender two years in a row!
This year BT will bring the second favorite at 4-1 odds Watsdachances (IRE), out to California to contest this $1,000,000 [G1] event. After breaking her maiden by six lengths at Navan Racecourse in Ireland in April, Pete Bradley of Bradley Thoroughbreds privately purchased the filly. She was placed in one of Bradley Thoroughbreds Racing Ventures and sent to trainer Chad Brown. She immediately fit into his training program winning the $100,000 P.G. Johnson at Saratoga in her U.S. debut.
After giving her co-owners a big thrill in the P.G. Johnson, Watsdachances went on to win the [G3] Miss Grillo at Belmont Park by 2 1/4 lengths. This was a “Win and You’re In” race for the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. The plane ticket, pre-entry fees, entry fees, and nomination fee are all paid for by Breeders Cup and the winner is assured a spot in the big race. For several co-owners this will be their first trip to the Breeders Cup and one to get excited about!
The Juvenile Fillies Turf field is very tough with European contenders Sky Lantern (3-1) and Waterway Run (10-1) coming over. Mark Casse is also shipping Spring Venture (5-1) from Woodbine to California. This filly is undefeated winning both a [G2] and [G3] at Woodbine and will be running late. Flashy Ways (10-1) was supplemented by her connections and ran an 80 Beyer last time out. Stuck with the outside post of #13, she will be tough if she can overcome.

At 2:38 pm PT on Friday, November 2nd, Bradley Thoroughbreds and partners will be holding their breath to see if Watsdachances will end up in the history books as the 2012 Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf winner. Whatever the outcome, it is special to have a Breeders Cup contender two years in a row and a tradition BT will strive to continue.
If Watsdachances is lucky enough to run in the money, Bradley Thoroughbreds, Michael Kisber, and Chad Brown will donate a percentage of her earnings to the New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program. One more reason for all of Watsdachances fans to cheer her home!
