Bradley Thoroughbreds’ pinhook graduate COMMANDING CURVE (2011 r. by MASTER COMMAND out of MOTHER) won a 1 1/16-mile allowance race on May 30 at Churchill Downs over the dirt surface.
COMMANDING CURVE ran near the back of the pack for a few lengths after breaking cleanly but remained much closer to the pace than usual. As the field moved around the clubhouse turn, jockey Shaun Bridgmohan angled the colt to the outside and settled him in third. As they rounded the far turn, COMMANDING CURVE began to make his move, coming on strong on the outside. With a furlong to go, COMMANDING CURVE took the lead, and held off RAAGHEB to win by 3/4 length.
COMMANDING CURVE finished a brilliant second in the (G1) Kentucky Derby in 2014 and once again proves his fondness for the Churchill Downs surface.
COMMANDING CURVE was purchased by Bradley Thoroughbreds as a yearling for $60,000 at Fasig Tipton Kentucky in October 2012, and sold for $75,000 as a Two-Year-Old in Training at OBS in April 2013 from the Eddie Woods’ Consignment. He is now owned by West Point Thoroughbreds and trained by Dallas Stewart.
